Marriage, Family, and Singles Empowerment Conference

Emmanuel Christian Community Church of Columbus, Ga., will be hosting the sixth annual Marriage, Family, and Singles Empowerment Conference, Saturday, February 2, 2019, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
According to family law attorneys Wilkinson & Finkbeiner, almost 50 percent of all marriages in the United States will end in divorce or separation. However, if a person has strong religious beliefs, the risk of divorce is 14 percent less. Wilkinson & Finkbeiner’s report also stated, per a national survey, that a lack of commitment as the most common reason given by divorcing couples.
“This event is intended to strengthen and tune up both marriages and families,” said Dr. Marlon Scott, Sr., pastor of Emmanuel Christian Community Church. The reverend and his wife, First Lady Dr. Shemal Scott, will be the conference’s featured speakers. “We know from research that children of a happily married couple are 14 percent less likely to get divorced. And, growing up the child of a happily married couple means a child has the continued influence of a mother and a father, which has tremendously positive benefits to that child, that family, and our society.”
