CSU Schwob School of Music: Music Under the Dome
701 Front Avenue
Our March MUTD program entitled Elements of the Earth will feature performances by colleagues and students at CSU who are all neighbors in the historic district, around the corner from the CCSSC. First up will be Toru Takemitsu’s beautiful Toward the Sea, performed by CSU flutist Adeline DeBella and guitarist Agustin Rosada Marquez. Next will be Paul Bissel’s Equal Fire, a virtuosic piece for drums and wood with power rhythms played by the Schwob Percussion Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Paul Vaillancourt. This piece will shake the auditorium! Next will be another Takemitsu work, Air, performed by the elegant graduate flutist Kellie Henry. And to end this interesting mix, will be Pulitzer Prize winning composer John Luther Adams’ Earth and the Great Weather: Deep and Distant Thunder performed by the Schwob Percussion Ensemble. All designs for this program will be created by CSU Art professor Hannah Israel, who has a gift for mixing color and paint on all types of canvases, particularly those on domes! Reception at 5pm with wine and cheese, and 45 minute concert at 5:37pm!
