Columbus community development meetings set for this week

Residents invited to weigh in on federal funding plans and South Columbus revitalization

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - The Columbus Consolidated Government Community Reinvestment Department will host two public meetings this week on community development planning and neighborhood revitalization.

A public hearing is scheduled for Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. at the City Service Center Council Chambers at 3111 Citizen Way. Residents can learn about and offer input on the 2026–2030 Consolidated Plan, the FY27 Annual Action Plan and the amended Citizen Participation Plan.

The plans guide the city’s use of federal housing and community development funds and establish priorities for addressing housing, infrastructure, economic development and community needs.

A second meeting is scheduled for Thursday at 5:30 p.m. at the Frank D. Chester Recreation Center at 1441 Benning Drive. The meeting will focus on the Neighborhood Revitalization Strategy Area Study for South Columbus. Residents can learn about the study’s goals, discuss neighborhood priorities and provide feedback on future revitalization efforts.
