Free skin cancer screening to be held in Columbus during May

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - John B. Amos Cancer Center in Columbus is hosting a free skin cancer screening in May.

According to officials, this will be held on the second floor of the June Wright’s Conference Room, located at the cancer center, on May 8 from 9 a.m. until 12 p.m. Walk-ins will be accepted, and reservations are not required.

The screening will be done in partnership Southeast Dermatology Specialists. It is a result of May being Skin Cancer/Melanoma Awareness Month.

Piedmont representatives advise those with an unusual spot or mole to get check. According to them, skin cancer is the most common form of cancer, but it is the most preventable; therefore, early detection is key.
