Longest-serving Georgia senator to be speak at CSU commencements

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Columbus State University has announced Georgia’s longest-serving state senator as the commencement speaker for the 2026 spring graduation.

According to college officials, Senator Ed Harbison will focus on civic leadership and service for three commencement ceremonies on May 15.

Harbison was elected to the Georgia Senate representing district 15 in 1992. Click here to learn more about his accolades and experience.

Graduation events

CSU will host their three commencement ceremonies on May 15 for all spring graduates. The ceremonies are free to attend and open to the public.

There will be additional graduation-related events held on May 14. The list is below:

  • School of Nursing Pinning Ceremony @10:30 a.m.- Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center
  • ROTC Commissioning Ceremony @ 1 p.m. - University Hall
  • Graudate Hooding Ceremony @6 p.m. - Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center

May 15

  • College of the Arts and the D. Abbott Turner College of Business & Technology Commencement Ceremony
    • 9 a.m.- Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center
  • College of Letters & Sciences Commencement Ceremony
    • 12:30 p.m. - Frank G. Lumpkin Jr. Center
