Columbus government announces holiday service changes for Christmas, New Year’s

City offices closed Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1 with modified schedules for waste collection, transit

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Columbus Consolidated Government will alter or suspend certain services during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

City offices will be closed Thursday and Friday, Dec. 25-26, and Thursday, Jan. 1. All emergency services including fire, police and ambulance will continue normal operations. Residents should call 911 for emergencies.

Waste and recycling schedule changes

Waste collection scheduled for Thursday, Dec. 25, will be picked up Wednesday, Dec. 24. Friday, Dec. 26, routes will follow normal Friday collection schedules.

Waste collection scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 1, will be picked up Wednesday, Dec. 31.

City facilities and services

The 311 Citizens Service Center will be closed Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1.

The Civic Center and Ice Rink will be closed Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1.

Parks and Recreation facilities will operate holiday hours Dec. 24 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. All facilities will be closed Dec. 25-26. Holiday hours will resume Dec. 31 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., with all facilities closed Jan. 1.

METRA bus service will not operate Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. Saturday schedules will run Dec. 26, though the administrative office will be closed.

Recorder’s Court will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. An 8 a.m. advisement session only will be held Dec. 26.

Property tax and motor vehicle registration offices will be closed Dec. 25-26 and Jan. 1.

Bull Creek and Oxbow golf courses will be closed Dec. 25 but will remain open Jan. 1.
