LANETT, Ala. (WTVM) - Springwood High School in Lanett has been named one of 25 finalist schools nationwide in T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights program, a competition celebrating how high school football brings communities together.
Springwood is the only finalist out of Alabama and Georgia. The $25,000 grant will help the school improve safety, equipment, and the overall experience at Bennett Stadium for players and fans.
Earlier this season, Springwood earned a $5,000 “5K Friday” award through the same program.
“There is no experience in the world like Friday Nights at Springwood School in Bennett Stadium,” said Allyson Matthews, Head of School. “Thank you, T-Mobile, for recognizing our passion and for giving the Wildcats the opportunity to win a $1 million stadium makeover. Let’s GO BIG RED!”
Springwood will be honored at a special celebration Friday, Oct. 17, during the Wildcats’ home football game. The event will include games, giveaways, and free concessions, with a check presentation happening at halftime.

As a finalist, Springwood is now in the running for the grand prize: a $1 million field upgrade, a renovated GronkFitness weight room, a consultation with stadium experience experts, and an all-expenses-paid trip for 16 school representatives to the SEC Championship Game.
More than 100 Alabama schools entered the contest, making Springwood’s recognition a major accomplishment.
Community members can help the Wildcats win the grand prize by voting daily through Oct. 24 at T-Mobile’s Friday Night 5G Lights website. Winners will be announced Oct. 30.
