AUBURN, Ala. (WTVM) - IHOP is making a comeback in Auburn this fall, marking its return after a six-year absence from the city.
The new location will open at 1678 S College Street, taking over the space formerly occupied by Fuzzy’s Taco Shop.
Fuzzy’s had a rocky run at the site—first opening in summer 2022, closing by the end of 2023, returning in summer 2024, and shutting its doors again just this past Sunday.
Both IHOP and Fuzzy’s Taco Shop are part of the Dine Brands family. According to an IHOP spokesperson, the franchisee—who has a long-standing relationship with IHOP—believes the pancake chain is a better fit for the location and the Auburn community.
The building, originally a bank, is smaller than a typical IHOP restaurant. Still, the new location will offer the full IHOP menu, along with counter service and outdoor dining, the chain confirmed. Although Fuzzy’s operated a drive-thru at the site, IHOP does not plan to use it.

IHOP confirmed that the same management and staff from Fuzzy’s will remain in place. While an exact opening date hasn’t been announced, the restaurant is expected to debut in mid-October.
Auburn’s previous IHOP, located on Opelika Road, closed in September 2019, ending a long-standing presence in the city—until now.
