CHAMBERS COUNTY, Ala. (WTVM) - Chambers County Schools have revised their dress code for the 2025-2026 school year.

Approved by the school board on June 4, the updated dress code applies to all students while at school, riding the bus, or attending school-related events.

The new dress code balances student comfort with academic professionality. Some highlights include:

  • Shirts and dresses: Must have sleeves and a collar or crew neck. Patterns and school spirit shirts are allowed. Tucking in shirts is optional.
  • Pants: Solid-colored pants, including denim, are allowed without rips or holes. Shorts and skirts must extend past the fingertips or reach mid-thigh.
  • Footwear: Closed-toed and closed-heeled shoes are required. Slides, sandals, cleats, and shoes with wheels are not permitted.
  • Outerwear: Jackets and coats may be any color but cannot display offensive content. Hoods must remain down inside school buildings.
  • Not allowed: Sweatpants (except in PE), athletic shorts (grades 6-12), ripped or oversized clothing, crop tops, trench coats, and head coverings (exceptions made for religious and medical reasons).

The district emphasized that attire should not disrupt learning or present health or safety risks. School spirit wear is encouraged, and all students must maintain a neat and clean appearance.
