TROUP COUNTY, Ga. (WTVM) - The Troup County Tigers are officially state champions after defeating Cherokee Bluff 6-3 to win the GHSA Class 3A baseball title.
From the moment the team left AdventHealth Stadium to their return back to Troup High School, the celebration never stopped. The Tigers were greeted with cheers, love and overwhelming support from their community, proud to welcome home the champions.
After being run-ruled 15-0 the night before in Game 2, Troup entered the decisive Game 3 ready to play. The Tigers fell behind early by three runs, but they didn’t stay down for long.
Sophomore pitcher Davis Moncus delivered a standout performance on the mound to keep Cherokee Bluff at bay. Meanwhile, Carson Walker stepped up at the plate, delivering key hits that fueled the comeback effort.
With emotions running high, WTVM Sports Leader 9 caught up with head coach Tanner Glisson, who praised his team’s resilience and determination. Several players also spoke during a press conference, reflecting on their journey and what it means to bring home a state title to Troup County.
