TROUP COUNTY, Ga. (WTVM) - The Troup County Sheriff’s Office welcomed a group of special guests Tuesday as students from across the county stepped into law enforcement shoes for the annual “Sheriff for a Day” event.

This is the final event in the Jr. Deputy Program, which is taught to every third grader in the Troup County School System. One student from each school is selected to represent their campus and spend the day learning firsthand about the many functions of the sheriff’s office.

The day began with deputies picking up the students and bringing them to the sheriff’s office, where they got an inside look at divisions including criminal investigations, the jail, court services, and Troup County 911. Demonstrations also included the K-9 unit and chaplain services.
