COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown has been designated a level III neonatal care facility by the Department of Public Health in collaboration with the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.

Piedmont Columbus Midtown underwent a thorough on-site review of its capabilities and policy compliance in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), which cares for 550 babies annually on average.

For babies not born at Piedmont Columbus Midtown, the Neonatal Transport Team, made up of nurses and a registered respiratory therapist, make certain these babies are brought to the NICU in state-of-the-art ambulances with the highest levels of efficiency and care.
