COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - Nearly 100 contestants are vying to be the next Miss Georgia!
Sashes, tiaras, and dazzling smiles, the Miss Georgia Scholarship Competition hosted its annual forum, preparing Georgia queens for the big night: the Miss Georgia Pageant. Jim Montgomery, the organization’s COO, says this pageant has enhanced young girls’ lives for 80 years now.
“There’s a lot of hard work that goes into here. The young ladies really do a great job of gathering themselves, as well as gathering the community of members of the community around them and in a very good position because they have a chance to make history with the 80th anniversary,” said Montgomery.
Miss Atlanta, Miss West Georgia, and Miss Greater Atlanta are just a few of the 98 girls excited for this year’s competition all with the same goal, to become the next Miss Georgia.
" Miss Georgia is the opportunity of a lifetime truly I’m so excited about June. I’m so excited about where we’re at right now in February and I just can’t wait to see where these relationships that start here will continue to build,” said Audrey Kittila, Miss Atlanta.

" I’m dedicated to the organization and its success, and I think that having someone from Columbus represent would not only boost the organization within the city but then also across the state, " said Jessica Roberts, Miss West Georgia.
“I think it’s so important for our youth to have someone to look up to that’s my goal is Miss Georgia to spread mentorship awareness, " said Lindsay Jones, Greater Atlanta.
Former Supermodel, Lu Celania Sierra says her goal is to not only teach queens how to pose but also to teach queens how to embrace their inner beauty.
“There are seven judges in a row, they don’t see the same pose if I’m standing this way this judge sees something different than this but the one thing they all see is if I love myself, you must love you,” said Sierra.
The organization broke a record by having 98 girls attend this year’s forum, management is hoping to reach 100 by next year.
