COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) -Columbus State University will kick off the holiday season with two free events on Dec. 3.
The first event will be its basketball-themed holiday tip-off at 6 p.m. on the Frank G. Lumpkin basketball court. The men’s basketball team will face Francis Marion University for their season home opener.
During the fame, there will be performances, games, prizes, free kids activities, and photos with Cody the Cougar.
Concessions will be available throughout the game. However, there will be a holiday-themed meal served at 5 p.m. in the Cougar Café in the Davidson Student Center for employees, students, and fans.
Those without a meal plan must pau $8.50 for the meal.

The university will hold its official campus lighting ceremony and celebration immediately following the game. The event will be held on the Student Recreation Center lawn next to the Lumpkin Center.
Attendees can expect to be served holiday cookies and hot chocolate. The tree will begin to be lit around 7:30 p.m.
Although both of these events will be free, officials are encouraging people to donate non-perishable food that will support CSU Police Department’s Cougars for Causes Food Drive.
The donations received will benefit the CSU Food Pantry, which helps students experiencing food emergencies. Some of the items they need are:
- Canned soups and vegetables
- Instant macaroni and cheese
- Individually packed snacks
- Instant rice
