COLUMBUS, Ga. (WTVM) - House of Heroes of the Chattahoochee Valley repaired a veteran family’s home.
Volunteers were at the home of Retired Sergeant First Class Ralph and his wife Velma Matthews.
Matthews served in the U.S. Army for two decades and received multiple awards including two National Defense Medals.
The volunteers were from Synovus Bank through the company’s ‘Here Matters’ community outreach program. They replaced parts of the roof along with painting the trim.
”Today we’re serving Sergeant First Class Matthews who served 20 years in the U.S. Military. He is a very decorated soldier for our country,” said Kyndal Nipper, Enterprise Business Analyst at Synovus. “He has won many accomplishments in his time. And were just so thankful for his service.”
House of Heroes of the Chattahoochee Valley has been dedicated to honoring veterans and their families since 2000.
