HAMILTON, Ga. (WTVM) - The search for a new superintendent for the Harris County School District is officially over.
After interviewing several candidates and narrowing it down, the district selected Dr. Justin Finney.
Roger Couch announced his retirement earlier this year.
Finney has 24 years of public education experience, including six years as the assistant superintendent of Business Services and Technology for the district.
He has also been a teacher, coach, assistant principal, and principal.

He tells us he looks forward to engaging with the community to collaborate on the best wats to have the best school district.
“What I’m most excited for is just interacting with the people and getting to know everyone and learning more about the community that I’ve lived in for many years - but just serving this community and talking to people and communicating with people,” said Dr. Finney. “It’s truly up to all of us to have a good school district and the best way to do that is through great communication and engagement.”
The term for the new superintendent will start June 1.
