FEDS INVESTIGATED ROGER STONE'S TIES TO PROUD BOYS AS PART OF POSSIBLE THREAT TO JUDGE

(CNN) – At one point, investigators looked into whether Roger Stone and the Proud Boys intended to threaten a federal judge.

The investigation happened in 2019 but was undisclosed until now.

At the time, Stone, a confidant of former president Trump, was on trial for lying to Congress and witness intimidation.

His Instagram account showed the presiding judge in the case with crosshairs behind her head.

Stone claimed some members of the right-wing group helped him with his social media posts.

Four members of the Proud Boys, including its leader Enrique Tarrio were subpoenaed to testify before a grand jury.

But in the end, no charges were filed against anyone.

The investigation sheds new light on how long prosecutors have been looking into Stone’s ties with the group.

Members of the Proud Boys and another extremist group, The Oath Keepers and now under investigation for their role in the capitol insurrection last month.
