CDC Warns Variants Could Lead To Rapid Rise In Cases

NEW CDC REPORTS WARN THAT VARIANTS COULD LEAD TO “RAPID RISE” IN COVID-19 CASES

(CNN) – The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says a COVID-19 variant, first identified in the United Kingdom could become the dominant strain in the United States by March.

The agency recently released two new reports warning about a “rapid rise” in coronavirus cases due to variants.

Another report shows a variant first identified in South Africa coincided with a rapid rise of cases in Zambia.

Health officials say the possibility of a similar experience in the U.S. is a real threat.

But, it is not inevitable.

They say people need to stay vigilant to reduce the transmission of COVID-19 variants.

Officials also want people to continue to get vaccinated.

The CDCc-d-c says it could help the u-s remain ahead of any variants.
