Tokyo Olympics Will Not Require COVID-19 Vaccines

TOKYO OLYMPICS CEO SAYS COVID-19 VACCINATIONS WILL NOT BE A PREREQUISITE

(CNN) – Tokyo Olympics officials said getting the COVID-19 vaccine will not be a prerequisite for those participating at the summer games in 2021.

In a press briefing Thursday after a call with International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach, Tokyo officials said they expect vaccinations to make progress by the time of the games, scheduled for July.

They hope as many people as possible will be vaccinated by this time.

Tokyo Olympics officials also said that vaccinations would be administered for athletes but would not be an obligation.
