Tennis Champion Naomi Osaka Invests In Soccer

NAOMI OSAKA, THREE-TIME GRAND SLAM CHAMPION, INVESTS IN NWSL TEAM NORTH CAROLINA COURAGE

(CNN0 – Tennis champion Naomi Osaka is going to soccer; at least as an investor.

The three-time grand slam winner announced she has invested in the North Carolina Courage franchise, which belongs to the National Women’s Soccer League.

Named Forbes’ highest paid female athlete in 2020, Osaka is the first investor in the team since owner Steve Malik acquired and relocated it to North Carolina in 2017.

‘The Courage’ most recently won the NSWL championship in 2019.

The 23-year-old, who is daughter of a Haitian father and Japanese mother, is currently in Australia as she prepares to compete in the first grand slam of the year, Australian open, which is set to begin on February 8th.
