DHS Pauses Some Deportations For 100 Days
DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY PAUSES SOME DEPORTATIONS FOR 100 DAYS
(CNN) – Some people facing deportation are getting a reprieve from president Biden.
On Wednesday the Department of Homeland Security announced that it is pausing some deportations for 100 days.
The order is a pledge from president Joe Biden.
The DHS says it applies to “certain non-citizens” and was made to “ensure we have a fair and effective immigration enforcement system.”
The department did not give any details about who might be offered a stay in their deportation .
The new policy begins Friday.
