US.. CARBON EMISSIONS FELL 10% IN 2020 BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC, ANALYSIS SHOWS

(CNN) – A new analysis shows U.S. greenhouse gases fell dramatically last year because of the coronavirus pandemic.

According to preliminary estimates by data analytics firm the Rhodium Group, U.S. carbon emissions dropped by 10.3% in 2020.

The group said that’s the single biggest plunge in annual emissions in the post WWII era.

It means the nation met a key emission-cutting target set by the Obama administration.

However, the Rhodium Group says without meaningful changes, emissions will likely rise again.
