First Woman Executed In Nearly 70 Years
FEDERAL GOVERNMENT EXECUTES THE FIRST WOMAN IN NEARLY 70 YEARS
(CNN) – The U.S. has executed its first woman in nearly 70-years.
Lisa Montgomery died by lethal injection at the Federal Correctional Complex in Terre Haute, Indiana early Wednesday morning.
This after the Supreme Court denied her attorney’s argument that she receive a competency hearing.
They wanted to prove she had a severe mental illness that would have made her ineligible for the death penalty.
Montgomery was sentenced to death in 2008 by a Missouri jury for the 2004 murder of a pregnant woman.
She cut out the victim’s infant and took it.
The baby survived.
