Pentagon Approves National Guard For D.C.

PENTAGON APPROVES DC MAYOR'S REQUEST TO DEPLOY NATIONAL GUARD FOR UPCOMING DEMONSTRATIONS

(CNN) – The National Guard will deploy in the District of Columbia this week, in light of potential protests.

Mayor Muriel Bowser requested the assistance and acting Defense Secretary Christopher Miller granted it.

The pro-Trump rallies are planned during a politically busy week.

Georgia’s Senate runoffs will determine control of the chamber Tuesday and Congress will count Electoral Votes Wednesday.

Bowser says she wants the help because some protests earlier this year resulted in criminal activity .

The police chief says the guard will focus on crowd management and traffic control; to free up police in case violence arises.
