Kwanza Hall Wins Runoff Election For John Lewis’ Seat
THE LATE JOHN LEWIS' SEAT IN GEORGIA IS FILLED AFTER A SPECIAL ELECTION
(CNN) – Kwanza Hall wins the runoff election in Georgia for the late John Lewis’ House seat.
Hall, a former Atlanta City Council member, beat former Morehouse College president Robert Franklin. 54% to 46%.
The Democrats rose above the competition in a special election held in September.
Neither Hall nor Franklin collected a majority which lead to Tuesday’s contest.
Although Hall won the election, he plans to hand over the responsibilities to Representative-elect Nikema Williams, who won the seat last month.
Lewis represented the 5th Congressional district for over 30-years.
