GM Recalling 7 Million Vehicles For Airbag Problems

GM RECALLING 7 MILLION VEHICLES FOR AIRBAG PROBLEMS AFTER LOSING FIGHT WITH SAFETY REGULATOR

(CNN) – GM is recalling about seven million vehicles worldwide; after losing a four-year battle with regulators.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration mandated the recall Monday, saying the Takata airbags in the vehicles are dangerous.

They’re linked to 17 deaths and the largest auto recall in history.

GM already recalled 800,000 vehicles with the airbags, but says the bags in some SUVs and pickups have safer inflators.

The NHTSA disagrees and is ordering the recall of certain vehicles with model years 2007 to 2014.

They include the Cadillac Escalade, the Chevrolet Avalanche.

Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe and the GMC Sierra and Yukon.
