Israel Could Face Third Lockdown

THE DEPUTY HEALTH MINISTER WARNS THAT ISRAEL COULD FACE A THIRD LOCKDOWN AS COVID-19 CONTINUES TO RISE

(CNN) – In Israel, as coronavirus’ infection rate rises, the country could face a third national lockdown.

Israeli Deputy Health Minister Yoav Kisch said Thursday he is concerned about the rising of the infection rate.

He advocates for the policy that the country shouldn’t open up until morbidity declines.

According to the Health Ministry, the number of new infections on a weekly average has risen for the first time since mid-September.

Israel was one of the first countries in the world to enter a second general lockdown in mid-September.

The infection rate dropped dramatically during the lockdown, even though the restrictions weren’t nearly as severe as the first general lockdown during the spring.

According to Ministry of Health Data, 758 new cases of coronavirus were diagnosed Thursday, bringing the country’s total number of cases to 327,435.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in Israel, 2,742 people have died as a result of the disease.
