Scholar Athlete of the Week: Hardaway’s DaeQuon Bulger
BULGER HOLDS A 4.3 GPA AND PLANS ON BECOMING AN ATHLETIC TRAINER
The Hardaway Hawks have relied heavily on defense this fall, shutting out three opponents. Senior defensive back DaeQuon Bulger playing a major role, tallying 72 tackles, 2 pass deflections and one interception.
“Coach Woolridge always talks about buying in, and I feel like this year we really did it,” said Bulger. “The program, like everybody, the chemistry is all there.”
“He’s a great player. He’s a sure tackler,” said Hardaway Head Coach Michael Woolridge. “He’s a two-year starter, and it’s amazing. When you have guys that take care of it in the classroom and on the field those are easy.”
Bulger holds a 3.4 GPA and takes dual enrollment classes. Bulgers’ favorite class is math, and it’s taught by his favorite coach.
“Coach Woolridge actually is my math teacher. He’s always calling on us, picking on us, asking questions. Things like that,” said Bulger. “We’ve got to be leaders and show the regular students how it’s done.”
In college, he plans on playing football and studying to be an athletic trainer. For now, he hopes to be a role model for his teammates.
“They all look up to us. They love us,” said Bulger. “We’ve just got to show them that the classroom comes first because without that we wouldn’t even be able to play football.”
Congratulations to DaeQuon Bulger, our WLTZ Scholar Athlete of the Week.
