Meet Freshman Standout Tank Bigsby’s Biggest Fan

Auburn freshman Tank Bigsby leads the SEC in yards after contact with 290 total in six games. That’s not surprising for his biggest fan and mother, Shaquuanna Bigsby.

“Seems like I’m on the field because I’m just like this, ‘Go! Go! Go! Miss, hit, go!’, said Shaquuanna. “Some of me is nervous somewhat, but then I’m a proud mom.”

“Knew it was going to be big when we all came together and connected as an offense and play together,” said Tank. “I knew we were going to be big all along.”

The 6’0”, 204 pound Callaway alum is fifth overall in the conference at 503 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns. Tank found his passion for football in eighth grade.

“He started playing football at the age of seven. Tank didn’t really want to play football. He wanted to help kids with ADHD.”

Now, Tank helps his Auburn family in multiple ways. The freshman leads the SEC with 300 kick return yards. He could have had 400 if a kick return against Ole Miss had counted.

“There was a flag on the play, but in my mind he still got that 100 yard touchdown.”

Tank has already joined an elite list with two former Auburn running backs, Bo Jackson and Michael Dyer, after running for over 100 yards three times against SEC competition as a rookie.

“I just tell him sky’s the limit. Keep up the good work because he was determined to come here and break records.”

COVID-19 prevents Shaquuanna from visiting her son, but the view at Jordan-Hare Stadium is priceless.

“Just seeing my mom in the stands gives me a different feeling playing football because this is what I do,” said Tank. “I play football for my mom you know. Seeing them in the stands gives me a different feeling. Makes me run better.”

“At first they were thinking about canceling the season, but they didn’t,” said Shaquuanna. “It’s a blessing and an honor to be here to watch him play.”
