Scholar Athlete of the Week: Lagrange’s Kale Gibbs
INJURIES COULDN'T STOP LAGRANGE SENIOR RUNNING BACKKALE GIBBS FROM EXCELING ON AND OFF THE FIELD
Lagrange Senior Running Back Kale Gibbs is having the best season of his career. It’s been long in the making after dealing with injuries the past 3 seasons.
“Anyone can talk about wanting to get their dreams done, but once you put in work and you don’t see results it’s hard to keep going. Now that’s it’s finally getting shown, I’m grateful that I kept working. I’m not stopping here, I’m going to keep working harder to get better,” said Gibbs.
Gibbs is also the top runner on the Lagrange track team.
“Just being able to pick up that track speed and translating it into football speed makes a huge difference because you’re never getting slow over the off season,” says Gibbs.
His success spills over into the classroom, he has a 4.o GPA. which is a selling point to college coaches.
“Now that we just pumped out our mid-season film a ton of coaches are picking me up on their radar,” said Gibbs. “Now that they’re all started taking notice in me they’re starting to see what my GPA is as well.”
Wherever Gibbs has been, he’s been involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
“From Arizona to Georgia, I’ve always been a part of it. I’ve always tried to be a leader in it if I can, If not, I just show up and make sure I’m listening, taking it to heart,” said Gibbs.
Gibbs is waiting to decide on a college major until he picks a school to attend. Congratulations Kale Gibbs WLTZ’s Scholar Athlete of the Week.
