Chobani To Pay Workers $15 Minimum Wage
CHOBANI RAISING STARTING PAY TO AT LEAST $15 PER HOUR
(CNN) – Fortune magazine reports that yogurt brand Chobani is going to start paying workers a $15.00 per hour minimum wage.
That’s more than twice the federal minimum wage of $7.25 per hour.
Just over two thirds of the Chobani employees are paid by the hour.
The bump to $15.00 an hour will put Chobani’s average hourly rate at its South Edmeston, New York and Twin Falls, Idaho plants at roughly $19.00 an hour.
The increase takes effect in the first quarter of 2021.
Chobani’s CEO and founder, Hamdi Ulukaya, told Fortune it is up to CEO’s and businesses to bring about “fundamental change” to its workers.
