Zeta to Bring Rain and Wind to the Area

Expected to restrengthen to a category 1 hurricane, Tropical Storm Zeta is churning its way through the Gulf and is projected to make landfall by Wednesday night along the east coast of Louisiana. Rainfall from Zeta will affect our area Wednesday night into Thursday with up to 3″ possible in spots.  Brief heavy downpours should be expected.

As of now, some severe weather is possible, but not anticipated to be widespread here. Sustained winds of 25-30 mph with gusts over 40 mph will be possible especially the farther north you go in the viewing area. These winds could bring down shallow rooted trees and power lines and blow objects around in your yard that could lead to damage to your property, so tie them down or bring them inside. There is a low risk for some tornado activity Wednesday night into late Thursday morning.

Highs and lows will stay above the norm through Thursday before cooler/drier air filters in making for a pleasant stretch of weather Friday through at least early next week.
