Report: White House Wanted To Give Mall Santa’s Early COVID Vaccine
FEDERAL HEALTH AGENCY SCRAPS PLAN TO GIVE EARLY COVID VACCINE TO SANTA PERFORMERS
(CNN) – The White House reportedly wanted to give a special holiday gift to the jolly old man himself.
A top Trump administration official wanted to give Santa performers a COVID-19 vaccine ahead of the general public.
That’s according to the Wall Street Journal.
Elves and Mrs. Clause would have also been included, but the Department of Health and Human Services said Friday the plan is off the table.
In exchange for the early vaccinations, Michael Caputo, an HHS Assistant Secretary, wanted Santa’s to drum up awareness for coronavirus vaccination events around the country.
Democratic leaders in the house of representatives last month criticized the campaign, questioning its timing just before a national election.
The agency is reviewing the deal.
The fraternal order of real bearded Santas, called the news “extremely disappointing.”
Caputo took a 60-day medical leave last month.
