DUNKIN' BRANDS IN TALKS TO GO PRIVATE

(CNN) – The parent company of the Dunkin’ and Baskin Robbins chains might go private.

Dunkin’ brands confirms it’s in talks with Inspire brands about that company acquiring it.

The New York Times says it has two sources, who say the deal could be worth $8.8 billion.

Dunkin’ dropped “donuts” from its name two years ago to present itself as a beverage company.

This year, it closed about 800 shops.

It’s set to announce its earnings Thursday.
