Secoriea Turner’s Family Suing Atlanta For $16 Million
ATTORNEYS FOR PARENTS OF SECORIEA TURNER ANNOUNCE FILING OF NOTICE OF INTENT TO SUE THE CITY OF ATLANTA
Atlanta, GA (CNN) – The family of an eight-year-old; shot during a protest in Atlanta says they are suing the city for $16 million.
The wrongful death lawsuit blames Secoriea Turner’s killing on “the negligence, recklessness, and gross misconduct of the City of Atlanta.”
Secoriea was fatally shot on the 4h of July.
She was a passenger inside a car that was attempting to turn around in a parking lot that contained an illegal barricade.
That barricade was set up by armed people protesting the deadly officer-involved shooting of Rayshard Brooks.
Monday’s lawsuit seeks $12 million for Secoriea’s wrongful death, another $2 million for her mother and $2 million more for the driver of the vehicle.
Atlanta’s mayor, police department, interim police chief and a city council-member were all named as part of the lawsuit.
