TWITTER REMOVES TWEET FROM TRUMP CORONAVIRUS ADVISER THAT UNDERMINED IMPORTANCE OF MASKS

(CNN) – Twitter removed a tweet from president Trump’s coronavirus adviser that undermined the importance of masks.

Dr. Scott Atlas, of the White House coronavirus task force, wrote in a tweet Saturday “Masks work? No.”

Dr. Atlas then followed with a series of misrepresentations about the science behind the effectiveness of masks in combating the pandemic.

According to Twitter, Atlas violated its policy that prohibits sharing false or misleading content related to COVID-19 that could lead to harm.

Atlas’ tweet echoes president Donald Trump’s misleading claims about masks; even as the U.S. grapples with grim new spikes in cases.
