Wells Fargo Fires Employees For Seeking Relief Funds

WELLS FARGO FIRES 100+ EMPLOYEES FOR REPORTEDLY TRYING TO SWINDLE CORONAVIRUS RELIEF MONEY

(CNN) – Wells Fargo bank has fired more than 100 employees who reportedly tried to swindle coronavirus relief money.

The bank announced the move in an internal memo on Wednesday, which was obtained by CNN.

It says the employees misrepresented themselves, to obtain money from a federal relief fund for small businesses.

The memo says the employees may have defrauded the U.S. Small Business Administration.

However, the document says those workers acted on their own and the move did not involve Wells Fargo customers.

A person familiar with the situation says an internal investigation is still under way.

The relief fund is intended to help small businesses reeling from the fallout of the pandemic.
