Hurricane Delta Bringing Rain
Keeping a close watch on Delta that has re-strengthened to a major Category 3 Hurricane as it rockets through the west central Gulf. It is projected make landfall Friday near the west coast of Louisiana not too far from the Lake Charles area. Delta then continues northeast becoming a tropical depression by Sunday as it heads toward the MS/TN border. It’s projected path keeps it well to the west/northwest of our area, but we could still see 1-2″ of rainfall by Sunday.
Question remains on the potential for severe weather. Will we see anything? At this point, I think we’ll be okay provided that skies stay cloudy. If the sunshine has a chance to break through, then instability could be on the rise causing a better opportunity for spin up tornadoes. Something we will be keeping a close watch on.
As for temperatures, expect daytime highs to be in the upper 70s to low 80s and nighttime lows to be in the mid 60s to around 70 through the weekend. Humidity will remain sticky to uncomfortable, too.
