Humidity on the Increase, Rain Too
ISOLATED SEVERE STORMS POSSIBLE THURSDAY AFTERNOON
After a fall-like air mass settled in over the region to start the work week, the remnants of Tropical Storm Beta are advancing towards the area, bringing warmer, more humid air. We saw a noticeable increase in both temperature and humidity values today, and those changes in the atmosphere will yield showers and thunderstorms across the area tomorrow into Friday.
Beta’s remnant wind field, combined with instability over our area, may be just enough to turn one or two storms severe tomorrow afternoon and early evening. While the main threat will be gusty winds, we cannot rule out a very brief, weak spin-up tornado. Desmond and I will keep you covered tomorrow on this very low end threat.
The rain and storms move out for the weekend, setting the stage for a dry but still warm start to the work week. A sharp cold front looks to move through by the middle of next week, providing another taste of fall with highs back down in the 70s and lows in the 50s by Thursday and Friday of next week.
