COVID: Model Updates Prediction With Fewer Deaths

A CORONAVIRUS MODEL UPDATES ITS FORECAST ON CORONAVIRUS DEATHS FOR JANUARY

(CNN) – A model that predicts the number of coronavirus deaths in the U.S. is changing course.

It’s now forecasting fewer deaths in January that it previously expected.

We are talking about the Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation at the University of Washington.

This week it predicted that the U.S. would “most likely” see more than 378,000 deaths from COVID-19 by January 1st.

Last week that number was more than 415,000.

The forecasts have varied depending on mask usage.

The institute says they now expect to see fewer deaths in several states and that led to the decline.
