Lego To Phase Out Single-Use Plastic Packaging

LEGO TO PHASE OUT SINGLE-USE PLASTIC PACKAGING

(CNN) – Lego is going to be phasing out single-use plastic packaging in favor of recyclable paper.

According to a Tuesday statement from the Lego group, the new bags will start to show up in Lego boxes in 2021.

The Danish toy-maker says it’s part of a $400-million investment in sustainability initiatives over the next three years.

Development of the new bags has been going on for a couple of years now.

Lego came up with the idea after getting a lot of letters from kids asking why they were still using single use plastics in boxes.

The company’s vice president of environmental responsibility says Lego plans to make all packaging sustainable by the end of 2025.
