Study: Blood Type Affects COVID-19 Risk
23ANDME STUDY SUGGESTS LINK BETWEEN BLOOD TYPES AND COVID-19
Sacramento, CA (KOVR) – A new study believes blood type is associated with coronavirus risk.
Scientists at genetics company 23andMe looked at more than one million DNA samples.
According to its data, people with blood type “O” tend to test positive for the virus less frequently when compared to people with any other blood group.
The study also found a rare genetic mutation in fewer than ten percent of the population that appears to raise the risk of developing a serious case of coronavirus.
23andMe’s study is not considered scientific because it relied on self-reported data and it has not been peer reviewed.
