Expect Scattered Showers And Thunderstorms This Weekend

The heat and humidity will be on today. Above average temperatures will continue today with highs in the low 90s today and add an increase in humidity, that will push heat index values around 100 degrees today. As far as rain chances go, expect mainly scattered afternoon showers and isolated thunderstorms that could last into the early evening hours. Unfortunately, expect higher rain chances for your Saturday and Sunday as moisture continues to increase. The tropics remain active with Tropical Storm Paulette and Rene as the only named storms currently. One feature in particular we’re watching closely is an area of low pressure off the coast of Florida that is forecast to move into the eastern Gulf of Mexico this weekend. Some development is possible but I don’t expect this to form into a hurricane. Be ready to go inside for a little on Saturday and Sunday if you have any outdoor plans.
