More Than 33 Million Expected To Bet On NFL Season

SOME NFL FANS MAY HAVE LESS ENTHUSIASM ABOUT THE KICK-OFF OF THE SEASON THURSDAY NIGHT, BUT NOT GAMBLERS

(CNN) – With the NFL is kicking off its season officially Thursday night, more than 33-million Americans are expected to make wagers.

Although there is less enthusiasm from NFL fans this year due to COVID and politics, gamblers are still taking an active interest.

According to the American Gaming Association, six million Americans will wager at physical, legal sports books.

That’s an increase of 18% over last year.

As with everything else during the pandemic, more wagering activity will occur online.

Betting through legal and illegal online platforms is expected to increase 29%.

Though many NFL teams will not have fans in the stands, it’s a safe bet that enthusiasm for gambling on the games has not diminished.

18 states plus Washington, D.C. now offer legal, regulated sports betting.

It’s a growing trend with another four states not yet operational and seven currently considering legalization.
