Musselman Outlasts Nimmer on Fourth Playoff at PGA’s The Invitational at Auburn University Club
COOPER MUSSELMAN WINS FIRST PROFESSIONAL GOLF TOURNAMENT
The Invitational at Auburn University Club ended in competitive fashion, a sudden death playoff between Cooper Musselman and two-time LOCALiQ Series winner Bryson Nimmer. The former champion gained momentum at the end of round three. Nimmer sunk his first birdie of the day on hole 16, and then finished his outing with par-birdie. Musselman sat -2 Nimmer, but a bogey-par to end the day evened out the score.
On the fourth playoff hole against the LOCALiQ Series’ top player, Musselman two-putted for par from 30 feet on Auburn University Club’s 11th hole, and then watched Nimmer miss a 13-foot putt for par that gave Musselman the win and a $16,000 first-place check.
Musselman moved to No. 4 on the Race to The Bahamas Points Standings. The PGA LOCALiQ Series tour takes a three-week break, resuming action in Florida September 23-25 at the Jacksonville Championship.
