Universal Orlando Resort To Cut Hundreds Of Jobs

HOTELS AT THE UNIVERSAL ORLANDO RESORT ANNOUNCED MORE THAN 800 EMPLOYEES WILL BE LOSING THEIR JOBS

Orlando, FL (WFTV) – Hundreds of cooks, servers, receptionists, and housekeepers at Universal Orlando Resort hotels are losing their jobs.

The pandemic has hit the Florida theme park industry particularly hard.

Loews hotels announced more than 800 employees at Hard Rock Hotel, Portofino Bay Hotel, and Cabana Bay Beach Resort were indefinitely furloughed or permanently terminated.

A company director says the case-surge in late June and July along with other states ordering Florida travelers to quarantine had caused a “sudden, dramatic and unexpected reversal in bookings.”
