Strong And Possible Isolated Severe Thunderstorms Possible This Afternoon

Numerous showers and thunderstorms are likely to form during the afternoon and early evening hours today.  Some of the storms will be strong with isolated severe weather possible. The main threats are damaging winds, large hail, frequent lightning, and heavy rainfall. The Storm Prediction Center has all of our area under a Marginal risk (1 out of 5) for severe weather today. Higher rain chances and cloud cover will keep temperatures slightly below normal today with a high near 90 degrees. Higher rain chances will continue for the next few days as a low pressure and trough to our west will continue to pump in moisture and aid in lift across the area. Heavy rainfall for the next couple days across some areas could lead to some isolated flash flood issues by Saturday.

The tropics are active again with tropical depression thirteen forming last night, this system will likely only gradually strengthen and possibly enter the Gulf of Mexico early next week. Of course, expect frequent updates and changes to tropical depression thirteen (Laura is the next name when the system becomes a tropical storm).
