Slight Chance of Showers and Thunderstorms Thursday

A weak cold front has moved in and become stationary with an area of low pressure attached. Although it has introduced some drier air to help keep rain chances at the minimum, there is still the possibility for daily spotty showers through Saturday with what moisture there is to tap into. The heat of the afternoon could trigger a strong storm or two with gusty winds in excess of 40 mph, lightning and brief heavy rainfall possible.

A warm front is projected to push the stationary front off to the east by Sunday and drag more moisture into the region as it moves off to the northeast. This will increase rain chances Sunday into at least early next week with a better shot at isolated showers and thunderstorms each afternoon.

Daytime highs will range from the low to mid 90s (hotter in some spots) through the next 8 days with heat indices climbing back into the triple digits by the weekend if not before. Overnight lows will be in the upper 60s to mid 70s.

Keep smiling!
