(CNN) – Germany is currently experiencing a second wave of COVID-19.
That is according to the Association of German Physicians, Marburger Bund.
In an interview with local media, the head of the association says that by dismissing reality we could “gamble away the successes we have achieved.”
Germany had started easing restrictions back in early May.
But on Friday, the country reported over 950 new infections, which is the highest since May.
There have been over 210,000 cases and about 9,100 deaths since the start of the pandemic.
Meanwhile, the first schools in all of Germany have reopened in the North Eastern state of Mecklenburg on Monday.
More students are going back to school in other parts of the country.
