Grease Recycling and Pharmaceutical Disposal Event this Saturday


On Saturday, August 8th, Keep Columbus Beautiful is partnering up with Columbus Water Works and the Muscogee County Sheriff’s Department to host a community-wide Grease Recycling and Pharmaceutical Disposal event. They will be at Roses Parking Lot (3200 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31904) and Big Lots Parking Lot (5300 Sidney Simons Blvd, Columbus, GA 31904).

-Items Accepted: Cooking grease, oil, expired/unused medication, vitamins

-Not Accepted: Diabetic Needles, Syringes, medical waste.

Facts about importance of each disposal:

· When cooking oils are poured into your sink, flushed down your toilet, or into your garbage disposal it can constrict water flows, clog sewer pipes, or possibly back into your home plumbing system.

· This pharmaceutical disposal is designed to encourage proper disposal of medicine and help reduce environmental concerns that could be cause by improper disposal.
